Anyone have any insight into the downward spike in ABT today?
Did anyone get stopped out?  I haven't been using stop losses with SSP, prefer to keep a close eye on them.  Seems to have stabilized just below $23, but has my knees knocking.

Hi LuckyWon,

No, no insight to share but by having a look at the intra-day chart:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=ABT.TO&t=1d
It looks like one trade sends the stock down (#20$) and then a lot of trades (and a bigger volume in total) brings it back to 23$.

It might be a big player who wanted to shake the stopper and made this one big sell and a lot of little buys to get some shares cheaper.

Or just one guy jumping out of the stock and a lot of other ones reloading on the opportunity, who knows???

And by the way, that's the kind of reason why we stay out of stop orders. In that particular case, and if it stays like that we would have jumped out of the stock for no reasons.

I am glad to see that it has made it over the $23 mark at this point.  Seems to be enough buyers.  My knees are feeling better.

All that heavy selling volume must of been Bryanmcn's stops getting triggered!!   Wink  Did you get a chance to get back in at a better price?

Likewise, I am out of TIM @ $3.40 cause it hit a trend reversal for me.  But now its trading up around $4. I am looking for a point to get back in.  This is the only position that I have not followed the SSPv3 recommendations.  At this point I am regretting it, but will wait to see how it finishes up.

Stopping out of ATB is the price I pay for a good lights sleep. I was 2000 shares at $16.49, out at $20.30.
It was an expensive sleep!

After the snickering dies down, take a look at the chart of LPX just before it gapped down. Look familiar?

I also stopped out of TIM at $3.46. Unless it makes a higher high (above $4.30) I'll not go back in.

Anyone here still own ABT? I have been looking all over for a board to chat about Canadian stocks on. I have owned some shares since March and couldn't be happier, I just wish I had bought more. I am thinking about getting some more after this latest run-up. Anyway, just happy to have someone to talk with about Absolute!
