Title: New guy with a question...
Post by: Sn00ky on October 11, 2008, 05:34:46 PM
Hello everyone,
I'm new to EVERYTHING when it comes to stocks/bonds/etc.
I might be in the wrong forum, but I will give it a shot.

I am curious to what the difference between a stock and fund is.
Reason being, I can't track the value of BGI Bond Index Fund, through Sunlife Financial Investments.

I apoligize if I am in the wrong forum, if so, please let me know!

Thanks everyone, good luck!!!

BGI have a listing of their funds and unit values on their site.

http://www.barclaysglobal.com/products/canada/db_funds/unit_prices.jhtml

There are a number under "Canadian Fixed Income"

Generally speaking, a fund is a bunch of positions but a stock represents one company.

Does this help?

Sn00ky,
Do not apologize!

If you are so new to investing, I guess you'll learn a lot here, and do good business with SSP's recommendations... as soon as the market corrects in the right direction.
Until now, maybe stay prudent, very prudent!

Welcome,
Louise
