Title: Is my stock being shorted?
Post by: raymarquise on July 30, 2008, 01:36:55 AM
I am interested in a canadian stock that shows a healthy trading volume
 - how can  I find out if the volume is heavy because it is being shorted?
Is there a free website that gives this info for canadian stocks?
Thanks.

Hey Ray,
You are asking a lot for free!
This is precious info you want there  ;)!

I know one for American stocks that offers enough free info for me (but they are terribly expensive if you want more from their site).

I just requested my soooooo good discount broker to add that info to all the others.
I also ask them a lot, and sometimes I do get results.

At Stockwatch, you get a Starter Subscription Level that is really cheep: $4.95 Monthly

http://www.stockwatch.com/swnet/subscrip/subscrip_prices.aspx?pro=N&currency=C (http://www.stockwatch.com/swnet/subscrip/subscrip_prices.aspx?pro=N&currency=C)

and you have the historical short positions updated all 15 days.

For that price you will also get other things that you might like or not:
Block trades: which broker bought and sold those blocks (you could a surprises there)
Very sophisticated insiders trading reports.

I like their news that come faster then almost all other sites.

They now have a 30 days free trial, you could try it and see if you like it.

Louise

PS: But you also need to know what to do with that info.. but that I guess you'll ask later. Good luck!
